Libertarians choose Barr - will he siphon votes from McCain?

Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr (right foreground) and his running mate Wayne Allyn Root, at the party's national convention on Sunday.
Overcoming skepticism about some of his pre-conversion positions, Libertarians choose former Republican congressman Bob Barr as their presidential nominee.
Barr is joined on the ticket by Las Vegas oddsmaker Wayne Allyn Root. The Libertarians will be on the ballot in at least 48 states.
TheWeek.com has a good roundup of Barr/Libertarian issues including whether Libertarian icon Ron Paul will support Barr.
Transcripts of our online interviews with Barr and Root are here: Bob Barr, Wayne Allyn Root.
Would you vote for a third-party candidate? Do you think a high-profile Libertarian candidate could siphon enough votes from John McCain to affect the election?

Almost anyone would be better than what we have now.
I say almost because it could be worse if it were a choice between Gore, Edwards or Kerry.

I would vote for a candidate that says he will:
-Close the borders and deport illegals.
-Start drilling for oil EVERYWHERE possible.
-Start construction of nuclear power plants.
-Use all our power and money to help AMERICANS and not try to solve all of the world's problems.

jay do ever post anything that doesn't show how partisan you are and your hate for the Republican party?
I have never seen one and actually I have never seen you post anything that's even half way intelligent.
Thank goodness you can hide your true identity on a blog but what do you do in real life when people laugh at you?

In just two years . Remember the election in 2006?
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

8:46 gets the award for dumbest post of the day. If you had been paying attention you would know that repubs have set a record for obstruction and fillibusters in only 1 year. The dems have absolutely nothing to do w/ this, but nice try from someone who barely graduated highschool.

For those who missed the convention; let me summarize it for you.
It was a spectacular event culminating in the nomination of one heck of a strong third party ticket. I dare the Repubs and Dumocrats to debate either of them.

That post at 8:46 is spam, I've seen it on several blogs and websites today. It's also quite humorous and pathetic.
Just the latest example of the misleading, force-fed Drivel that our friends on the Right fall for.
They sure love their Kool-Aid, don't they.

Barr will definitely pull votes from McCain. Too many conservatives don't feel represented by McCain, and his choice for running mate won't do a lot to change that. Barr will look to many like a viable option, and that's going to affect McCain for sure. The question isn't whether Barr will hurt McCain's numbers, but how much?
