Poll: Ritter's approval rating nearly 2-1, but down from last year
Gov. Bill Ritter's favorable/unfavorable rating stands at nearly 2-1 more than a year and a half into his first term, says a Rocky/CBS4 poll.
Ed Sealover reports:
Ritter received a favorable rating of 50 percent vs. 26 percent unfavorable in a statewide survey of 500 registered voters from Aug. 11 to 13.Ritter rode a wave of popularity after his election, successfully pushing a number of bipartisan renewable-energy bills during the 2007 legislative session and scoring approval ratings of 70 percent in other polls last year. The latest count, by Republican pollster Public Opinion Strategies in consultation with RBI Strategies, a firm that generally works with Democratic candidates, shows he still has a 2-to-1 ratio of opinion in his favor.
But the thumbs-up from just half of respondents represents a trend of voter skepticism toward elected officials that can be seen at all levels, RBI director of research Craig Hughes said.
Ritter is pushing a November ballot measure to revoke an oil industry tax break. The proposed measure would end a nearly $300 million annual subsidy the state gives to oil and gas companies and redirect the money largely toward college scholarships.
If it passes, Ritter could be seen as the guy who stood up to a powerful industry and helped education, Hughes said. But he adds that if the measure fails, the governor could become the guy who tried to raise industry taxes while gas prices already are high.
Would you give Ritter a thumbs-up or thumbs-down?

Looks like shaggy got caught in another lie. Ritter's approval ratings in the dumpster? Obviously you just made this accusation up huh? Quit lying!
I was reading this article and then went to read some of the posts on this blog and then I came across this quote... had me laughing out loud...
But as we have seen over and over from you and the other wingnuts on this blog... The facts don't matter and when the FACTS go against what you wish, say it anyway, maybe no one will notice... Too funny...

"A new poll shows 41 percent of Coloradans say Gov. Bill Ritter is doing a "good" or "excellent" job, a 13-point slip from May that comes after Ritter was getting high marks since his election in 2006.
Rasmussen Reports polls, the latest of which was released Tuesday, show Ritter's job-approval rating dropping each month since May, when 54 percent of Coloradans rated the first-term Democratic governor as doing a good or excellent job.
Rasmussen's July automated telephone survey of 500 likely voters had a 4.5 percentage point margin of error and showed 11 percent of Coloradans said Ritter was doing an "excellent" job, while 30 percent said he was doing a "good" job. Meanwhile, 28 percent said he was doing a "fair" job, 25 percent gave him a "poor" rating and 6 percent said they were not sure."

So let's take an objective 500 person voter poll in Boulder to see if we we still like Ritter?
"...the guy who stood up to a powerful industry..."
Would that be the suppliers of crude oil who employ millions, create billions of dollars in incomes and who pay billions in taxes? What has Ritter and his "New Energy Economy" supplied lately--other than $4 at the pump, no new jobs or incomes, a long list of tax hikes and huge spending proposals that will require even more tax hikes?
By "standing up to oil," what's that supposed to mean? Blocking them from exploring for it and then selling it while hiking their taxes? That brings new meaning to "standing up." "Screwing up" is more like it!

My question is, are we better off with a market run economy or a government mandated enconmy? Do you trust big government more to run the medical industry, and seize profits from big oil who pay 3 times in taxes they make in profits?
Or do you think the people who are the captains of their industry know a little bit more about what they do than the government?
To me, the bigger the government gets, the more liberty we lose, the weakeer we get as a nation. We do whine alot. With the global warming farce ongoing, we are being ignored by our representatives when it comes to increased domestic drilling. 70 percent pro drilling is a pretty sizable majority and it's falling on deaf ears.
Are our representatives elected to rule or to serve? Barak Obamam is the most unqualified person ever to run for president. His little Porky Pig imitation Saturday at Saddleback made George W. Bush look like Andrew Carnegie.
Ritter supports this guy. So, yeah, I'm going to question his wisdom. Not that I'm thrilled with McCain.... he's too much of a believer in man made global warming.
It's time to wake up and start loving our country and the ideas it was found on. Bill Ritter? Just another socialist described as a democrat.
