Sleaziest campaign ad of 2008?
Sen. Elizabeth Dole, attempting to hang onto a Senate seat long considered to be safely Republican unleashed this attack on her opponent.
Who apparently felt compelled to counter with this ad:

Elizabeth Dole and Marylin Musgrave should get married, then they could be the sleaziest couple in America.

Obama should marry Michelle and they could be the most unproud couple.
Or he could marry Pelosi and they could be the most far left Liberals ever produced.

Sleazy is to political advertising as ego is to entertainers - a total compatability, whether we like it or not. I am always amazed, not at how quickly the pols go negatiive in their ads, but at the fact the rest of us seem surprised or revolted by them. Sleazy, negative, perjoritive, and downright slanderous advertising has been a political staple as long as there have been political elections and published media of any variety. If you want an education, take a look at some of the political ads, or actually editorial columns that ran as straight news back in the 17-and 1800s. Some of them make today's sleaze look like kindergarten "dick & Jane" books; they were fairly literate, too. One really positive aspect of the negative advertising is that it often gives a voter a better idea of who to vote AGAINST.

What amazes me is how dense these politicians are. Only a fool repeats a tactic that doesn't work. Negative campaigning backfires. It's like throwing an illegal block in football, it might free up your running back for a big run, but the referee is going to throw the flag, negate the run AND tack on a 15 yard penalty and that's pretty much what happened in this case. A close race isn't going to be close anymore. Hagan is going to blow right by Dole. The Republicans had better sit down and think about what all they did wrong and swear of negative tactics for good.

Reason negative campaigning is used because it alway works to get the vote of the lazy voter, who depends on 30 second sound bite, or who will not read a book, newspaper, or watch television except for american idol, jay leno, oprah winfrey, or letterman. Also it works for the "gimme people" with hands out for their next welfare check (no matter what it is called). Hence: 95% reduction of taxes for all low paying citizens, while taxing the top 5% more. Have heard versions too many times. Before this administration only lowest 20% did not pay, and only filed for childrens credit and got a check. But that was limited. With tax reduction bottom 40% dropped out, and even on my small pensions I realized $100 a month (or $1,200 annually) for the math challenged to keep and use for wife and myself. Obama, Rangel, Pelosi, and Reid will take that away in 2010, if not before.

How is that ad "sleazy"?
I find this post even sleazier for saying that ad is sleazy.

I have not done the research so I am not sure if the claim is true that Kay Hagan went to a Godless Americans went to a party which was thrown in her honor. Provided that it is true though, why should anyone have any issue with Elizabeth Dole pointing that out? If it is a fact, I believe that the people voting for her would all think that is relevant information.
If the claim is true, I applaud Elizabeth Dole. If the claim is not true, Elizabeth Dole has some explaining to do.

So what if she went?
That's the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats represent the American people, Republicans only represent those that think and act the way they do.
Atheists are Americans, our constitution protects their rights to believe or not believe in God. As such, our politicians have no right to question them, select against them and our bound by the constitution to give them the same rights and the same voice as any other American.
The fact that Dole would run this kind of ad proves "she's" the one who is acting in a unAmerican fashion, not her opponent.

Leftside,
Nice narrowmindeness and stereotyping. If you got out of your left wing bubble, you may see that in other parts of the country. That type of thing matters, a lot. Jesus loves you!
