On this date, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Franco Harris turns what looked to be an incomplete pass into one of the greatest catch-and-run plays in NFL history. It started with a crunching hit by Oakland Raiders defensive back Jack Tatum on the Steelers' intended receiver, Frenchy Fuqua. The ball was ruled to have touched both players before flying backwards in the air some 15 yards. Harris caught the ball before it hit the turf, racing 42 yards to complete a 60-yard touchdown play and give Pittsburgh a 13-7 victory in the AFC playoffs.
