Plummer's efficiency stands out
Stat-wise, Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer did not have one of his best games on Saturday in San Diego. He completed eight of 14 passes for 91 yards with no touchdown passes, but the number that has appeared often in Plummer's stat column this season showed up again in the regular-season finale against the Chargers.
Zero interceptions.
For the season, Plummer finished with 18 touchdown passes and only seven interceptions. Those numbers weren't enough to get the veteran QB elected to the AFC Pro Bowl team, but they're enough to magnify his efficiency this season.
Plummer is one of only three NFL quarterbacks to ever finish a season with seven interceptions or less with 450 or more pass attempts. For the season Plummer attempted 456 passes. He attempted 521 passes in 2004, with 20 interceptions.
In 1993, Neil O'Donnell had only seven interceptions in 486 attempts as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 1997 O'Donnell played for the New York Jets when he had only seven interceptions in 460 attempts. In 2002, Brad Johnson had only six interceptions in 451 pass attempts for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
