Gamblers to play at flag nationals
The Denver Gamblers are the best eight-man pro flag football team in the West. They proved it by winning the title at the Metro Competitor Flag Football Union’s Western Championships earlier this month in Las Vegas.
The Gamblers, coached by Mike Watson and Jerome LeNeir, defeated teams from Seattle, Long Beach, Houston and San Diego to win their second western title in three years and advance to the national championships, which will be played March 17-19 in Dallas.
The Gamblers' roster includes a number of former local high school and college athletes, among them former University of Colorado players Rashidi Barnes and Roman Hollowell, former Thomas Jefferson High (and Oklahoma State) players Gabriel and Tony Lindsay and former Montbello High and University of Wyoming athlete Herman White.
Brock's Buffs of Pueblo won the eight-man competitive division title at the western tournament in Vegas and will advance to the nationals in Dallas.

How's this for a twist -- A teammate of Colorado State football player Klint Kubiak, son of former Broncos offensive coordinator and new Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak , is Brian Heimerdinger, son of former Broncos wide receivers coach (and new offensive coordinator?) Mike Heimerdinger. Klint Kubiak's coach at Regis High was Jim Ryan -- who will join Kubiak's dad with the Texans.
