On this date, the Sacramento Kings scored only four points in the first period against the Los Angeles Lakers -- setting an NBA record for fewest points scored in the opening quarter of a regular-season game. The Kings' record for first-quarter futility was topped by the Denver Nuggets, who scored three points against the San Antonio Spurs in November 2002.
