Iverson back on Western's sideline
Carl “Duke” Iverson, who led Western State to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships six times during his 13 seasons as the school's head football coach (1988-2000), has returned as the Mountaineers' offensive coordinator.
Iverson, who spent the past five seasons coaching at Western Oregon, will work under Western State's new head coach -- Pat Stewart. Stewart played for and coached on Iverson's staff at Western State. "In a nutshell, I've come back to help (Stewart) rebuild the program," Iverson said. "It's great to come back to people that I know."
Iverson's teams at Western State went 79-47-1 and were known for their high-scoring offenses and prolific passing game. Last season the Mountaineers scored the fewest points (134) in the RMAC.
"I'm excited to help," Iverson said. "I hope we can put points on the board."
