Local fan makes the rounds in NHL
Golden native Danielle Granquist is on the verge of reaching her goal to watch a game in every National Hockey League arena.
To date, Granquist has attended at least one game in 29 of the league's 30 arenas. She is in Buffalo tonight to watch the Sabres-Montreal Canadiens game, which will complete her "30-at-30" tour.
Granquist, 30, is a computer systems administrator by day and by night a major hockey fan who first took interest in traveling to NHL games in 2000. Including tonight's game, she will have attended 21 road games since the 2003-04 season.
The Colorado Avalanche have been the opponent in 19 of the road games Granquist has attended.
"I'm just a nut," Granquist said. "Once I went to enough of them, I figured I might as well go to the rest of them. It was probably when I got to 10 that I decided why not do the rest.
"It still seems kind of crazy that I'm actually going to accomplish this. I won't stop. I'll probably go back to a few of the arenas for a second time."
