Prep stars mentor youths at camp
The first Athletics and Beyond football clinic and workshop is scheduled this weekend at Montbello High School, for youths ages 7-14. Organizer Narcy Jackson is hopeful that parents will allow their children to take advantage of the advice and expertise being offered from former Denver-area prep stars.
There is no registration fee.
"There's a need in the community for kids that cannot afford to some of the clinics that are offered right now," Jackson said. "And it also gets athletes that come from our community back involved with the community."
New England Patriots tight end Daniel Graham (Thomas Jefferson High), Arena Football League players (and former Mullen High athletes) Thal Woods and Darcey Levey, and former Montbello High athlete (and current University of Wyoming assistant) Harvey Patton are scheduled to serve as camp mentors.
Representives from Under Armour athletics apparel, Denver Parks and Recreation and local youth football leagues also will be on hand. For registration information call 303-725-0811 or go to the Web site www.athleticsandbeyond.com.
