Web site: HR record belongs to Maris
Local talk-show host Marc Moser -- a.k.a. "The Mose" on Sportsradio 950 The Fan -- has started a Web site dedicated to fans who believe that recent home-run records set in Major League Baseball are fraudulent because of steroid use.
The site, www.giveitbacktomaris.com, has been set up so that fans can petition MLB officials to acknowledge the 61 home runs hit by Roger Maris in 1961 as the true single-season record.
Three players have hit 60 or more home runs in a season since 1998 -- Mark McGwire (twice), Sammy Sosa (three times) and Barry Bonds (73 in 2001). All three have been accused of using illegal performance-enhancing drugs.
"I finally realized that true baseball fans like myself are tired of being lied to -- by the players and the game," Moser said. He is hopeful of receiving 1 million petitions.
On Tuesday, Moser and "Sportsguys" co-host Sandy Clough interviewed former MLB commissioner Fay Vincent. Vincent said Bonds' only hope of clearing his name is to apologize to the public.
"Do what (New York Yankees first baseman) Jason Giambi did -- say he was sorry," Vincent said. "Do what (former President) Bill Clinton did -- apologize.
"Now, do I think (Bonds will) do it? Absolutely not. I don't think he will."

The Detroit Pistons look all but dead in the Eastern Conference finals series against the Miami Heat, and the heat is on coach Flip Saunders. Would the Pistons fire Saunders after he led them to an NBA-best (and franchise record) 64 regular-season wins?
The seventh "Miles to Fight Melanoma" 5K run and walk will be held June 21 (6:30 p.m.) at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science near City Park. For registration and volunteer information, call 303-430-2817 or go to the Web site, www.active.com.
