Lynch 'savors' reunion

For one night, John Lynch, Champ Bailey and Domonique Foxworth were teammates again.

The trio served as chairmen of the 'Savor the Grape' charity event held Monday evening at Morton's DTC. Over 400 people attended the fund-raiser held to benefit the Broncos' Boys and Girls Clubs facility in Montbello -- site of the Darrent Williams Memorial Teen Center.

Williams, who played two seasons for Denver, was killed in a drive-by shooting in January, 2007.

Lynch was released by the Broncos during training camp this summer. He was signed by the New England Patriots, but let go before the team's first game of the regular season.

"I was going to be here and it's wonderful to be here," Lynch said Monday. "One thing we talked about (after Williams' death) is that we just can't let this die off."

As for his future, Lynch, who turns 37 next week, said he's keeping all options open. He might consider playing football again if called, but also has been contacted by several networks about work as a television analyst.

Lynch reiterated that he's not bitter toward the Broncos. "I think the team had moved on," he said. "When the team moves on, it's time for you to move on." When asked if there's any scenario that would put him back in a Denver uniform, injury or otherwise, Lynch told me probably not.

After spending time practicing against the Broncos' offense, Lynch said he's been surprised at the level of play shown by the unit through two games. "I don't think anybody in their right mind considered this kind of an explosion," he said.

Rod Smith, Brandon Marshall, Daniel Graham, Hamza Abdullah, Ryan Torain, Nate Jackson, Ebenezer Ekuban and Boss Bailey were among the attendees.

Williams' mother, Rosalind, also was in attendance, along with Annabel Bowlen (wife of Broncos owner Pat Bowlen), Nuggets players J.R. Smith and Dahntay Jones, and Rev. Leon Kelly , executive director of Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives.

Foxworth, who was traded to the Atlanta Falcons before the regular-season opener this month, was unable to attend the event.

I sure would like to have Darrent back, and in a Broncos uniform, because even though Karl Paymah is a class guy, he just isn't covering receivers very well.

Good luck to John Lynch, another class guy that I kind of wish had stayed with the Broncos and fought for a spot.

the team "may have moved on" but if you have seen our run defense...don't you think we could use #47 in the defensive backfield?

I wish John Lynch and his family nothing but the very best. That's what he and Linda are--the best. I will follow his career wherever he goes, and hope he'll soon be playing, if that's what he wants, or broadcasting. He'd be great at that too! I still wear my John Lynch Bucs jersey, as many people in this area do!

When I found out John Lynch was traded, I was devistated. Knowing that he'd be playin for another team then the Broncos was heart--breaking. But then finding out he had been released by the Pats was kind of a relief, because that leaves the option of him returning to Denver. On the other hand, I wish him and his family the very best in whatever he decides to do. I will always wear my Lynch Broncos jerseys

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.
