QBR Index for Week 6
If you're not familiar with my QBR Index by now, then shame on you. This formula is sure to tell you who's near the top -- and who's near the bottom -- in the NFL.
It's simple. QBR, which is short for Quarterback's Rear, is the number of defensive QB sacks recorded less number of times the quarterback has been sacked. In other words, the team that keeps its quarterback off his butt while putting the opposing QB on his butt should have success in the standings.
Or, strong pass rush plus strong pass protection equals playoff contender.
Is the QBR flawless? Of course not. The New England Patriots are a minus-9, yet 3-1 in the standings. The Philadelphia Eagles are plus-8, yet 2-3 in the standings. But QBR is pretty close in its overall accuracy.
The Broncos, through five games, are plus-seven in the QBR. Jay Cutler has been sacked twice, while Denver's defense has nine sacks. The Broncos, 4-1 on the season, play the Jacksonville Jaguars -- who are minus-5 in QBR (eight defensive sacks, 13 sacks allowed) and have gone 2-3 on the season.
Check out the QBR for the rest of the league's schedule this weekend, with season's record in parenthesis. And remember, the pluses and minuses are QBR ratings -- not gambling-related point-spreads.
Chicago Bears +1 (3-2)
Atlanta Falcons +2 (3-2)

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

The iPhone 4 is no small thing to review. As most readers of Engadget are well aware, in the gadget world a new piece of Apple hardware is a major event, preceded by rumors, speculation, an over-the-top announcement, and finally days, weeks, or months of anticipation from an ever-widening fan base

Apple Iphone Apps writes:
Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass' favor.
