I still can't believe that cyber-Bronco Nation didn't know well enough to include Floyd Little in our finalists for the Broncos' Mount Crushmore. Don't get me wrong -- there are plenty of worthy candidates. But to omit one of the three Broncos players whose jersey number is retired by the franchise ... Shame on you that call yourselves Bronco Fan, but don't know your team's history. Here, let me give you a couple of lines, from the foreword in Little's book titled Tales from the Broncos Sidelines -- "As a rookie with the Broncos in 1983, it didn't take long for me to learn about Floyd Little and his incredible impact on the Broncos' organization. After all, Floyd retired in 1975 as the seventh all-time rusher in NFL history. More than that, he was the Broncos' first superstar, a five-time Pro Bowler, a great humanitarian who immersed himself in charities on local and national levels, and the main reason the team was still called the 'Denver Broncos' and not 'Birmingham Broncos' or the 'Chicago Broncos.' In 1967 his signing as the franchise's first No. 1 pick finally squashed rumors that the team was relocating to another city. It started a love affair between the fans of Denver and the team's new star, contributing to the expansion of Mile High Stadium and years of sold-out Broncomania. As a result, Floyd aptly earned the nickname, 'The Franchise.'" ... OK, those words came from the pen of John Elway. You do know who John Elway is, don't you cyber-Bronco Fan? Study your Broncos history, and the next time someone asks you to name a great Broncos player not named Elway, let the first name that drips from your lips be Floyd Little ...
And a reminder: We'll be chatting sports here on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Here's the link CLICK HERE ... and tell your friends too.

Sam, what the RMN should have done, is an offense Mt. Crushmore AND a defense Mt. Crushmore. Selecting 4 from all these years of history, is not easy. Hey, I took Elway, Davis, Gradishar and Upchurch. Doesn't make me a bad person, just one with an opinion. We all have our own football heroes. I chose mine. You have yours. Heck, I thought there could have been others added to the list but the RMN left them out. It happens. I thought Floyd Little was awesome, but Upchurch and Gradishar electrified me more with their play. Doesn't mean I was right, just that it's what I recall from my youth.

Ring of Fame 2008-2009 Inductee is....
Clarence Kay-The Bobby Brown of the NFL minus
the superstar status. Basically a crackhead w/ cash.
The funny thing about it is when I was a kid I use
to always go to Broncos training camp when it was in Greeley! I was about 7 or 8 and saw him sitting
by himself after practice. I knew that my chances of getting an autograph from anyone GOOD like Elway or Meck was slim to none so I went up to him...reluctantly...knowing in the back of my mind he was a piece of work (keep in mind I was 7 or 8 and knew the guy was a screw up). He turned me down and I really wasn't too upset about it! haha!
I did end up finally getting to meet my idol John Elway a little later when he came out with the HORRIBLE game...John Elway quarterback. Anybody remember that? Sorry, just a little reminiscing...

Anthony1979, I've alweays been fortunate when it came to signatures. I had Atwater sign my card when he was at a grand opening for a Target store in Colorado Springs. I had Elway sign an NFL endorsed football for me at his Toyota dealership, when I bought my truck. It sits under glass and is worth $9K now. I have two cards, Dave and Doug Widdell, signed by both. I also have an Elway card signed. Memories....

This years inductee into the Denver Sports Ring of Shame is...
Clarence Kay!
(Clarence walks to the podium, fiddles with the microphone)
"First off...I would like to thank myself for this award, I couldn't do it w/o me. The endless amount of people I've let down throughout the years could be stacked to the moon,. I'd like to thank the addictions in my life...mainly I have to thank cocaine. Without my white girl I don't know where I'd be, you truly have made me what I am today!"
(applause from the crowd)
"Thank you, thank you...I would also like to thank all the women in my life that I have beaten, stalked, cheated on, and stolen from. You also have helped in who I am. I will never forget you, mostly because I have to make sure I stay at least 100 feet from anywhere near you or your homes. My addiction to you and fascination with you helped make me a multi-dimensional loser. I'm now in the class of Ike Turner and Bobby Brown minus the fame."
(tears from Clarence, crowd reacts with cheers)
"Thank you, thank you all"
(Clarence exits stage left)

Dave and Doug Widdell..WOW Dynamicdave! YOUR takin me WAAY back! it's cool to remember players from older years...that's cool about Atwater. I was a HUGE fan of his too...from what I hear your pretty fortunate to get his autograph...isn't he against giving out his autograph for the most part?
I was lucky enough to meet Jerome Bettis in his rookie year. Him and Willie Roaf who was also a rookie at the time, had just come to Denver between the draft and preseason to work on some conditioning. Jerome was a favorite of mine even at Notre Dame so I was ectatic to meet him...him and Willie...really cool guys...got both of their rookie cards autographed too...

clarence m to the other F ing kay deserves the whole ring or at least three spots for the following illustrious accomplishments in the game of shame; domestic violence, a literally incredable performance of a police officer, and last but not least having the honor of being the first bronco and probably the first nfl player to attain the title of asst. manager of a jiffy lube.
