Chivas Guadalajara vs. Pachuca at Dick's
Mexican first-division powerhouses CD Guadalajara and CF Pachuca will square off in a SuperLiga match July 31 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The game will start at 8 p.m.; tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, and will cost at least $25. Tickets will be available at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park box office, at ticket kiosks in all metro-area Dick’s Sporting Goods retail stores, online at www.tickethorse.com or by phone at 1-866-466-6556. Rapids season-ticket holders will be given an opportunity to purchase tickets through the mail. For questions, call the Rapids at 303-825-4625.
The clubs are rated the best two sides in Mexican soccer. Pachuca is in first place, with 36 points, and Chivas is second, with 31 points. Both teams will also battle today (Wednesday, April 25) on national television in the return leg of the CONCACAF Champions' Cup final (7 p.m. live on Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español).
Chivas currently features Mexican national team players Adolfo “Bofo” Bautista, Omar Bravo, Hector Reynoso, Alberto Medina and Ramón Morales. Pachuca's roster includes players such as goalkeeper Miguel Calero, Juan Carlos Cacho, Luis Angel Landin, Andres Chitiva, Damian Alvarez and Gabriel Caballero.
SuperLiga crowns the top club of the U.S.-Mexico region. Four MLS teams and four teams fropm the Mexican First Division compete for the trophy in a tournament modeled after the Champions League. The club that emerges as SuperLiga champion will take home a $1 million prize, an unprecedented purse in North American soccer.
