Notes: a new striker for the Rapids?
The Rapids reportedly are close to signing Dunfermline striker Tam McManus to a four-year deal.
McManus has been on trial with the Rapids and, according to TribalFootball.com, is close to agreeing to terms.
Allen at the Black Panther blog confirms.
"It is something that is definitely appealing to me, and it would be great if the deal goes through," McManus told TribalFootball.com. "We are just trying to get the deal sorted out. It will be a life-changing experience for me. ... The deal should be sorted soon, and hopefully I can get over in the next couple of weeks."
Here's McManus' profile at the Dunfermline Athletic Web site.
RAPIDS PRESEASON: The Rapids have announced that they will be taking on the Bermuda national team Friday in Bermuda. This game will mark the Rapids' third trip of the preseason. The team has trained in London and Florida. Colorado (3-1-3 in the preseason) will have one other exhibition, March 23 against the Fire in Jackson, Miss. The Bermuda national team will use the exhibition as preparation for the March 30 return leg of its World Cup qualifying series against the Cayman Islands. The two fought to a 1-1 draw in Bermuda during the first leg.
MOOCH MISSES: Former Rapids coach Glenn "Mooch" Myernick narrowly missed election into the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame. Glenn Myernick was named on 43.75 percent of the ballots cast by veteran players; 50 percent was needed for election. Forward Hugo Perez, who scored 13 goals in 73 games for the U.S. national team from 1984 to 1994, was named on 58.33 percent of the veterans ballots and was elected. Perez was followed by Kyle Rote Jr., 45.83 percent, and Des Armstrong, who matched Mooch's 43.75 percent. Women’s coach Anson Dorrance received 58.33 percent on the builder’s ballot and also was elected.
KC SIGNING: Forward Claudio Lopez, a veteran of the 1998 and 2002 World Cups with Argentina, signed to play with the Kansas City Wizards. The 33-year-old joined the team in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where the Wizards are training until March 21. Lopez also played in 1996 Olympics for Argentina, which won the silver medal.
GALAXY IN HONG KONG: David Beckham scored a late goal before the Los Angeles Galaxy lost in a penalty shootout Sunday to Hong Kong club South China in the final leg of its preseason Asian exhibition tour. The matched ended 2-2, with South China prevailing 5-4 in the shootout. Beckham played the entire game, with the 32-year-old midfielder trying to regain fitness and prove himself ready for a recall to national team duty with England and claim his 100th international cap. The former England captain was taking a “wait and see” approach to selections for England’s friendly against France on March 26. If Beckham is named to that team, it's possible he will miss the March 29 season opener against the Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. That game is the Galaxy's only regular-season appearance in Colorado.

I wouldn't call it 100% confirmation. It looks like it but we have yet to see a report that explicitly states Thomas Kelly "Tam" McManus has signed with the Colorado Rapids. At this point it looks like a done deal with Tam for sure leaving his current club Dunfermline.
