Notes: Rapids, Ruiz, McManus, more

The starting time for the Rapids' game Saturday at Kansas City has been changed. The match, originally scheduled for 6 p.m. Mountain Time, will begin at 3 p.m. MT.

A men's college basketball game featuring the University of Kansas is scheduled to start in the evening, so the Wizards organization moved the kickoff time up three hours to accommodate Jayhawks fans.

In addition to the time change, the Rapids’ local telecast of the match has been moved to Altitude.

INJURY UPDATE: Here is the injury report for the Rapids: Conor Casey (knee), Ugo Ihemelu (hip), Mike Petke (foot) and Justin Hughes (groin) are out; Mehdi Ballouchy (hamstring), Jovan Kirovski (hamstring) and Nico Colaluca (groin) are probable.

U.S. OPEN CUP: The Rapids will face the Galaxy May 27 at the Home Depot Center in a U.S. Open Cup play-in game. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. Mountain Time. If the Rapids win, they would need to win another play-in match against an MLS team to qualify for the third round of the U.S. Open Cup.

SIGNING REPORTEDLY NEAR: Scottish striker Tam McManus reportedly will sign for the Rapids this week and could be in the squad for Saturday's game at Kansas City. Nick, over at the WeWantRapidman blog, writes that the "front office staff and coach (Fernando) Clavijo have confirmed the signing. McManus's presence in the team is now subject to immigration requirements." Read the entire entry here.

BOUNA TIME! Martin Rogers, of Yahoo Sports, writes, that Rapids goalkeeper Bouna "Coundoul may the best shot-stopper in the league. He has excellent reflexes and a high level of athleticism, and he continues to make solid progress, although his reading of the game and positional sense could use some work." Read the whole story here.

NOT FLOPPING? Apparently Galaxy forward Carlos Ruiz really did get hurt against the Rapids, possibly on the Ciaran O'Brien foul late in the second half. Ruiz had arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday and will be out four to six weeks. Ruiz tore the meniscus and sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

TWELLMAN, RALSTON INJURED: Revs striker Taylor Twellman has torn cartilage in his right knee and is expected to miss at least six weeks. The team said Tuesday that Twellman is scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery Wednesday to repair the medial meniscus. Revolution captain Steve Ralston dislocated his left shoulder in Saturday’s season-opening victory over the Houston Dynamo. He is scheduled for further tests.
