Rapids to face Mexico's Tigres on July 9
The Rapids announced Tuesday that they will host a friendly against UANL Tigres on July 9 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Kickoff will be at 8 p.m.
The game marks the first time the Rapids have played an opponent from Mexico since they defeated Santos Laguna 2-0 in Las Vegas in March 2003. Colorado holds an all-time record of 3-3 in friendlies against their neighbors to the south.
Tigres have won two Primera Division championships and finished second to Pachuca in the 2001 Invierno and the 2003 Apertura tournaments. The team from Monterrey has a partnership with FC Dallas, and Tigres and the Hoops play an annual home-and-away series for the Rio Grande Plate. Tigres also won the InterLiga Championship in 2005 and 2006, granting them a berth to the prestigious Copa Libertadores.
Tickets go on sale at noon Thursday and will start at just $12 per seat.

Nice hype, but here are the facts: Club Deportivo Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León hasn't won the Primera División championship since 1982, they finished 13th at Clausura 2008, and were very nearly relegated to Primera División A. Source: MedioTiempo.com. Go Rapids!
