Yay, the Rapids' new third jerseys look sweet!
The Rapids debuted their new white kits, which they plan to use in matches and competitions against international opponents. The team will wear them Wednesday night against Mexican first-division opponent UANL Tigres. The game starts at 8 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
The team's Web site says the uniform consists of a white jersey, burgundy shorts and white socks. But in the photo above, Omar Cummings is wearing maroon socks.
In the other photos, and in the photos on the Web site, the models are wearing white socks.
Another new twist is some red trim that the team calls "a hint of Arsenal Red."
I was worried, but that concern was mostly unfounded. The new jersey is simple and, aside from the trim, doesn't introduce any wacky new colors or crazy new designs.
The shirt is simple and stylish. The white will really pop once they get on the field. I'm looking forward to seeing them in person (on the field and in the store).
Now, with white tops, light blue kits, maroon jerseys and the choice of light blue or maroon shorts, the team has six uniform combinations it can put together (or nine, if you count the possibility of them wearing Chivas USA's dark blue shorts).
