Force in talks to play Sky Blue FC of WPS

The Colorado Force women's soccer team is in talks with the New Jersey/ New York Sky Blue FC of Women's Professional Soccer for an exhibition in June as part of the Women's Soccer Celebration, the W-League team announced Saturday.

Women's Professional Soccer is a seven-team professional league launching this spring.

Christie Rampone, the U.S. national team captain and a draftee for Sky Blue FC, was in Fort Collins on Saturday to help make the announcement. During her visit, Rampone also led a youth soccer clinic for about 100 children under 14.

Forward Natasha Kai, midfielder Heather O'Reilly and Rampone, a defender, are U.S. national team stars slated to play for Sky Blue this season.

The Force, a member of the W-League since 1996, would play the Sky Blue as part of a doubleheader. Last year the Women's Soccer Celebration featured a match between the Force and the Washington Freedom at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
