The article in today’s paper on the immigrant problem in Rifle is written with careful, political correctness. This political spin only serves to cover the real problem and prevents correctly identifying the real problem: illegal invasion of the United States and the enormous burdens that come across the border with the invaders.

Not long ago the News published a breakdown of the millions of dollars these illegals have cost taxpayers in their pursuit of the American dream; our American nightmare, as we pick up their million dollar tab in education, medical care, welfare and entitlement charges, judicial costs not to mention the social and cultural costs to this country.

These Mexicans need to come into this country in legally accepted numbers with the promise of respect, loyalty and assimilation to the U.S. and with the assurance that their entry and residence will be their sponsors responsibility with no burden to the American citizenry.

I know of nightmare stories about these illegals and their crimes, how they illegally drive on our streets and freeways, how they steal from our supermarkets and shopping malls and form gangs that promote crime in our communities.

The lists of negative impact on America are long.

As soon as you quit calling a noxious weed a flower it will be the first honest step in identifying the problem. Call a spade a spade for a change RMN, and bring back a little integrity in finding real solutions to the real problem of illegal invasion and all the enormous, varied problems that go along with it.

If we don’t tell it the way it is resentments will take hold and flourish.

Who in the real world wants anyone coming into their home uninvited much less raiding their cookie jar without permission?

Go home illegals. If you like America so much use it as your prototype and build up your own country in your own homeland. If you like America so much and what we have built respect it enough to come here legally and respect our entire array of laws and show a some respect for the people who have built America into what it is. Too much to ask? Apparently so as Mexicans come across the border daily in droves without concern or respect for what they do to damage America. They leave tons of garbage at the border that we have to clean up with bulldozers; a far cry from honorable, respectful, dignified behavior from people who come into our home uninvited, but persist in breaking down our doors.

If you want a welcome mat waiting outside the door, go home and have the dignity to re enter legally, according to the laws of the United States and show some dignity, integrity and honor for the country you sneak into in the dark of night as you throw your trash on our doorstep for us to clean up.

Hey,Anderson,nothing thats been said here is about legal immigrants,ita about ILLEGAL TRESPASSERS.Who use up are resources,flood our school;s with their children,making it harder for american kids to get the education they have a right to.Just think how much oil could be saved if there wasn't as many as 20million illegals,in this country.

Now that I think about it I guess you all are correct. I've been narrow minded and I really don't know what I'm talking about. Please forgive my ignorance. I should have realized that people like me are tearing this country apart. I will no longer support the illegal mass invasion at our southern border.

I think "CC" Page did a wonderful job telling it like it is. And I agree with "UNFAIR" on the fact that illegals are getting thier way due to the US govt it surely is not due to the Citizens of This Great Country. The screwed up Mexico already and now they are coming here and screwing up America...

I am willing to stand and die at our borders so that my country is free of Illegals...

I think the government has looked the other way ESPECIALLY for Mexicans. Why do they get special priviledges?? We have to start to learn spanish when we go to our own stores...?? I have gone into a store more than once to find that I cannot find ONE SINGLE ENGLISH SPEAKING EMPLOYEE to help me. And the packaging on the things that we buy are now in two languages?? My native language isn't on any of these packages... I that was born overseas, and came here with my family when I was two years old. My parents struggled with no more that $2000 in their pocket and three small kids in tow. My family struggled for respect and integrety for many many years, and worked HARD to get it!! We learned the language....we adapted to the society...my father STUDIED for MONTHS from an enormous book to receive his citizenship. We ADAPTED. That's the difference. The new leniency is such a slap in the face to all the other immigrants who do it LEGALLY...like my family did.

I'm also one of those AMERICANS that agree completely with CC Page.....and it's not out of hatred. It's not about racism. It's about RESPECT. Try throwing THAT word around for awhile - if you RESPECT something, someone, you don't walk into their home, without being welcome. You don't come into someone else's house speaking some other language and EXPECT THEM to even WANT to try to understand you, and you don't TAKE ADVANTAGE of their kind and giving nature. YOU GIVE BACK. You say THANK YOU. How can anyone have ANY respect for themselves if they are consciously and KNOWINGLY taking advantage of a situation ??
I honestly have nothing against immigration, after all, as many other people have said, we're ALL immigrants. Our ancestors all came from SOMEWHERE !! But when it THREATENS the LIFESTYLE I have and what I'm trying to provide for my children, when the schools are too crowded, and the roads are too busy and dangerous, when people are AFFECTING OUR ways of life, and the morals this country was based on - when they can't SPEAK ENGLISH, out of RESPECT for the real, TRUE AMERICANS that are here and living an honest, honorable life - no matter WHAT race they may be or where they came from - THEN I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IMMIGRATION - but not just any immigration - ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. How can someone be SO BLIND an NOT SEE the effects it's having on our country ? On your very own STREET ? In your very own NEIGHBORHOOD ?? In your CHILDRENS SCHOOLS ??? Just think about it - would the schools be as crowded ?? would the jails be as crowded ?? would the streets and TRAFFIC be as bad ?? Would there be as many accidents ? Yeah, maybe it would all be the same - but at least then, we could BLAME OURSELVES. AS AMERICANS. Look at Canada and the other countries that have STRICT immigration laws - that don't let ANYONE in. Are they having a financial meltdown ? Is their country going broke and being destroyed by overpopulation ? Are they allowing themselves to be disrespected in ANY WAY by ANYONE from a foreign country, or even their OWN country ??? Would they EVER allow it ? They have pride. They have morals. THEY PROTECT THEIR RIGHTS AND THEIR WAYS OF LIFE. I'm sick of the US Govt bending over and taking it.....it's all about POLITICAL CORRECTNESS - and it should be about THE USA, and what's RIGHT for her CITIZENS.

I got a look at my mother's property tax assessment and her modest home's value went down $2,000+.

Since her neighborhood is increasingly Mexican in nature with all the crap they bring in; you can damn well bet the illegals are wrecking the property values.

Hmm, a diatribe of hate. CC Page has a lot of gall to talk about integrity when his whole essay is full of misleading and unsupported allegations. Taxes gone up? Funny I hadn't noticed. But that doesn't prevent false claims being made about it now, does it? If even one "Mexican" is bad, they all are according to CC Page. Apparently no lie is too low, or too wrong. Substitute the words German, Irish, Chinese, Italian, or Russian for Mexican, and you will have covered most of the history of hatred and xenophobia in this country, with the same filthy stinking garbage presented in this essay.

I am one of what could be millions of americans,who completly agree with cc page.
especially the reporting of the rocky mountain news and denver post.
I will not vote for any politician who wants to give amnesty, to law breaking illegal aliens,or any other kind of illegal alien.

As long as John "I love illegal aliens" Temple is in charge at the Snews, the newspaper will always be pro-illegal alien instead of an objective tool reporting on the events and issues of the day.
