Mexican Trucks in the USA

AN OPEN LETTER TO SENATORS ALLARD & SALAZAR

Dear Senators Allard & Salazar: Please do not give final approval for unfettered access to large commercial Mexican trucks on our highways. The recent announcement of this program raises serious concerns for the safety of all US motorists, who will be traveling on our roads with these semis. In addition, this program will likely provide a new terrorist gateway to vulnerable targets on American soil. I respectfully request that the Senate hold open hearings to address these critical questions before taking the next step:

-Will all Mexican truck drivers entering the USA be required to produce a valid passport to enter our country as we American citizens now must do? -All U.S. citizens must carry Mexican insurance to drive into Mexico. Will all Mexican truck drivers be required to carry American insurance to enter the U.S?

-Will all US DOT safety standards required for heavy US commercial trucks be enforced for Mexican trucks? Where will they be inspected and by whom?

-Will all Mexican trucks be required to comply with US environmental standards for diesel fuel emissions as all US commercial trucks must? How and where will this be done?

-How will Mexican truck drivers’ competence with large, heavy tractor-trailers be verified?. Will a CDL or comparable driver’s license as mandated for all US commercial truck drivers be required? If not, why not?

-How will driving-time limits required of US commercial drivers be verified for Mexican drivers & how will Spanish language log books be validated?

-Will our law enforcement officers have authority to detain foreign nationals stopped for speeding, other moving violations, transport of illegal drugs or driving without a license or insurance? This is a critical question, as our highways are patrolled by local law enforcement, not Federal officials.

-How will transportation taxes required of all US commercial haulers be collected?

-What procedures are in place to prevent terrorists from entering our country using Mexican-registered trucks for access? - Will cargo inside semi-trailers be inspected prior to entry into the USA?

Foreign ships transporting cargo into US ports are inspected prior to docking for national security reasons. Foreign trucks bringing goods into this country from Mexico should be subject to similar scrutiny as a condition of entry. Failure to examine these large freight haulers will seriously threaten national security. It will also open the door to the Mexican and South American drug cartels. Instead of sneaking their narcotics across the border on the backs of smugglers, they will be welcomed in by the truckload.

Please don’t abandon us, Senators. This is a matter of life and death as these big rigs get ready to roll on our roads at 70-80 mph. Please use your influence in the Senate to ensure that foreign nationals are identified and not on the terrorist watch list before they enter this country. If I need a passport to re-enter my own country, surely these unknown, foreign truck drivers must at a very minimum carry a valid Mexican passport. Please also ensure that they comply with the same safety regulations as our own domestic commercial truckers. Our lives and the lives of your loved ones are depending on it.

Denver seems to be the perfect place to set off a WMD. Drive it right up I-25 from Mexico, stop at 6th and I-25 and set it off. So simple a caveman could do it. ha ha ha ha ha lol
Jokes on us stupid, lazy Amerikanos.

As usual, the government sits on its fat butt and does nothing until something terrible happens, instead of having the forthought to prevent this in the 1st place.
Mexico is already inundating the US with its diseases and trash camps that turn up in a lot of Mexican neighborhoods.
Now they want to let the un-safe, un-licensed Mexican drivers and their dumps on our roadways.
Lets all hurry up and kiss Mexicos butt like the government has been doing for the last 40 years and just go about our business and not care about anything.
When a large bomb is exploded in the US that has entered from Mexico will be the only thing that will wake up our lard-butted politicians.

Where were all this people when NAFTA was being debated "years ago"? The USA entered into that agreement under the trade treaty. Now some 10 years later, people claim to only be hearing about this now???

Boy, talk about an informed public making comments they know nothing about.

How about the comment, "a worn out, dangerous Mexican semi with a worn out, dangerous, illiterate Mexican driver."

Like we don't have illiterate bubba driving worn out dangerous trucks in the USA?

Katy, the reason you have not heard about this on the major news channels is because they want a 1 world government. They want thousands of dangerous trucks on the road. They hate the USA. They want to crawl into bed with the UN. They want another 40 million illegal aliens in the US. They HATE Bush, but want open borders. They agree with Reconquista. They believe that they are the intelligent ones who should make all the decisions, and the unwashed masses are idiots who deserve to be flattened by a worn out, dangerous Mexican semi with a worn out, dangerous, illiterate Mexican driver.

When my husband and I were visiting our nephew who lived in Rio Rico, just north of Nogalas, before we got there he warned us to watch out for the trucks and cars with Mexican plates.

He told us that they did not have insurance, and they were not maintained. He was right. When the trucks stopped, you would hear metal on metal, I noticed that the tires were bald, and in some cases the metal core was showing through.

Now I'm not saying all trucks were bad, just the majority. Some of these semi's were bought from buyers, that purchase trucks that have hundreds of thousands of miles one them. These semi's are past their prime, and are dangerous.

Why haven't we heard anything about this on the normal news channels?

If you think unregulated, poorly-maintained Mexican commercial trucks on our raods is a good idea, take a look at this:

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There is a massive depot in Kansas City that will be the destination of many of these trucks, and that land will be sovereign Mexico. Check out news on the Trans Texas Corridor, the Security & Prosperity Partnership of the Americas, and the covert, yet coming, North American Union. Linda, thanks for such a thoughtful letter and such pertinent questions. I bet you never get a reply from either senator.

Hey jerseycorn.........
Support search and rescue and get lost.

I am in absolute shock..........This is ludicrous!
Those are some extremely important questions you have asked. I will be waiting anxiously to hear the replys.
I wonder if any legal action could be undertaken to stop this?
I've been to Mexico more than once and seen the crap they drive, this scares the piss outta me, especially the terrorism part.
What Next?

Conspiracy, conspiracy and conspiracy. We will have no middle, class rich and poor just like Mexico. Then after we lose our soviergnty we will be subjects of the Chinese, who are a culture that celebrates homogeny not "diversity" and multiculturalism nonsense.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. Of people like QBT.

Yeah right James. L.A. is a pig sty, just like Mexico is a pig sty. You just made my point.

Posted by QBT on April 9, 2007 04:51 PM

Nice to assume that anything coming from Mexico is dilapidated and unworthy of evening spitting on.

Sure the country is shabby in places. But Mexico City is no different than L.A., and no truck driver wants parts falling off their rig anymore than you want it landing on your SUV.

Well said Linda! I've noticed the quality, courtesy and professionalism of U.S. truck drivers has declined significantly in the past 10 - 20 years; especially at the small companies that can't or won't pay a decent wage to their drivers.

I shudder to think at having Mexican junkers on our congested highways.
