The burdens of illegal invasion

By C. C. Page

The article in today's paper on the immigrant problem in Rifle is written with careful, political correctness. This political spin only serves to cover the real problem and prevents correctly identifying the real problem: illegal invasion of the United States and the enormous burdens that come across the border with the invaders.

Not long ago the News published a breakdown of the millions of dollars these illegals have cost taxpayers in their pursuit of the American dream; our American nightmare, as we pick up their million dollar tab in education, medical care, welfare and entitlement charges, judicial costs not to mention the social and cultural costs to this country.

These Mexicans need to come into this country in legally accepted numbers with the promise of respect, loyalty and assimilation to the U.S. and with the assurance that their entry and residence will be their sponsors responsibility with no burden to the American citizenry.

I know of nightmare stories about these illegals and their crimes, how they illegally drive on our streets and freeways, how they steal from our supermarkets and shopping malls and form gangs that promote crime in our communities.

The lists of negative impact on America are long.

As soon as you quit calling a noxious weed a flower it will be the first honest step in identifying the problem. Call a spade a spade for a change RMN, and bring back a little integrity in finding real solutions to the real problem of illegal invasion and all the enormous, varied problems that go along with it.

If we don't tell it the way it is resentments will take hold and flourish. Who in the real world wants anyone coming into their home uninvited much less raiding their cookie jar without permission?

Go home illegals. If you like America so much use it as your prototype and build up your own country in your own homeland. If you like America so much and what we have built respect it enough to come here legally and respect our entire array of laws and show a some respect for the people who have built America into what it is. Too much to ask? Apparently so as Mexicans come across the border daily in droves without concern or respect for what they do to damage America. They leave tons of garbage at the border that we have to clean up with bulldozers; a far cry from honorable, respectful, dignified behavior from people who come into our home uninvited, but persist in breaking down our doors.

If you want a welcome mat waiting outside the door, go home and have the dignity to re enter legally, according to the laws of the United States and show some dignity, integrity and honor for the country you sneak into in the dark of night as you throw your trash on our doorstep for us to clean up.

READER COMMENTS

I agree with most of the comments above, Dick Lamm said it all correctly, the destruction of America is exactly what's happening.

Illigals rallying, demanding, our government giving them Social Security and hiring special education (dual language) teachers to make an attempt to educate their offspring.
The burden on the taxpayers to give them "free" medical care at the most expensive outlets, emergency wards, costs there are many times higher than at doctors offices or medical care facility, but they can't get it "free" at those places.

Cinco De Mayo indeed, why? Used to something I looked forward to, no more. If the Mexicans want to celebrate one of their national holidays, let them go back to Mexico and do all the celebrating they want, not here.

How do you like ALL the signage in your stores in 2 languages? How about "press one for English" Mad yet? I am.

Ex-Governor Richard Lamm was right when he said in a speech about 10 years ago, that he had a perfect plan to destroy America. The Snews and all of the main-stream-media and almost all elected officials have taken his recommendations, which were facetious by the way, and run with them. Multiculturalism is a trap that this nation is caught in, and the USA is not capable of chewing off its leg to get free. The wide-open borders make it easy to sneak in under the cover of dark, to supply the treasonous employers who hire them at 1/4 to 1/3 the wages that used to be paid to Americans. Illegal Aliens are demanding services and resources for free, services that they don't deserve. Services paid for by tax dollars from us. If the citizens of the USA are too lazy or ignorant to stop this invasion, they will get what they deserve. Our nation, our Republic, has 1 foot in the grave. Participation in our nations form of government is not a spectator sport. Get off your big fat behind and get involved. Call your elected officials and demand they stop this invasion. March for your rights Report employers of illegals. Do not patronize businesses who employ illegals. Vote with your wallet. People think that this country cannot be destroyed, but they are most cerainly wrong. It is happening right in front of us every single day.

The RMN deserves to have a protest of its circulation and thus its advertisers due to its hateful and biased attitude toward US Citizens. I am not anti immigrant but I am anti-immigration. I am not anti-hispanic but I am Anti-spanish language. Everyone needs to visit www.NumbersUSA.org and watch a 13 minute video "Immigration by the Numbers" It is not political rhetoric. It is a very powerful presentaion of census information and the detrimental effect immigration is having upon this country. We are bankrupting our children and grandchilren and their children's futures. As US Citizens who care about our country's sovreignty and economic health, we all need to stand up and be heard by businesses who pander to those who are in our country illegally. They are not non-documented immigrant or unauthorized citizens or paperless migrants. They are criminals. Illegal immigrants have broken the existing laws of this country. As a constituency, we need to demand that elected officials fully enforce the laws they swore to defend when they took their oath of office or we need to impeach them.

America was once a great nation and is rapidly turning into a third world cesspool thanks to illegal entry by illegal aliens that is encouraged by those in power from both major parties, business, unions, and the Catholic Church.

The Snews, along with their media cohorts and academia are a bunch of naive stooges for the open borders advocates.

Americans are fed up! We know the harm the Illegals are causing this country. We know the money the illegals are causing this country. We know the crime and the gangs that are spreading across our country. We know the are driving down wages. We know that companies are hiring illegals so their bottom line.We know they are devastating our health care system. We know they have baby after baby and are then qualified for social services. We know they are running our education system into the ground. We know our insurance rates are higher because they refuse to abide by our laws. we know millions of people are the victims of identity theft. We know they are a big part of the foreclosure rate.We know they turn neighborhoods into grafitti slums. We know they are a scourge on this country.
What are we going to do about it?Our elected leaders are not listening and the La Raza movement seems to have their ear at the expense of listening to actual American citizens. We need to find some answers to make our voices heard loud and clear.

If we staged a protest and didn't go to work or our children didn't go to school and protested by the millions alot of us would be fired and our children would be suspended,Why?We have no rights left in our country. The ACLU wouldn't go to court for us to defend our right to protest and to free speech. It seems only the illegals have that right.
So what do we do? Any ideas?

You are right about the RMN being a one sided slant newspaper, that being the slant of big business.
The RMN is just another big business that will do and say anything to save money and make more profits no matter what the cost to its integrity, if it actually has any left.
Each and every illegal should either be sent back home or locked up.
And as far as their offspring contributing to our society, please, the majority of the illegal offspring end up breaking the law in some manner or form, they rarely graduate from HS and they certainly don't have the skills or the brains to contribute anything to our society.
It is time to wake the f--k up and get rid of everyone of the illegals.

When are you going to realize that the problem is at least as much because of the 'illegal employers' as because ot the illegal immigrants? Until laws are passed that make it an economic disaster for XYZ company (or any individual for that matter) to hire illegals, there will be jobs for them. How many of you expressed outrage that WalMart was only fined $11 million - in a year that that they made $285 BILLION. That is as you were fined 1 CENT for doing 100MPH in a residential zone - you'd just keep doing it. We need a fine & jail structure for hiring illegals that makes it cheaper for people to hire citizens & legal immigrants than to hire illegals (say - 10% of gross profits for the first offense, 20% for the second, and 20% + mandatory jail for third). In addition, companies/individuals that subcontract to other companies who hire illegals shouldn't get a 'pass' either. Story after story has been reported when an illegal is deported that their job will waiting for them when on his/her return, which is usually within the month. Get mad at the right folks - those who are attempting to break the middle class by turning the US into a 3rd world country - with CEOs like Nacchio or the current CEO of Circuit City who are willing to both hire illegals & offshore middleclass jobs at the expense of the rest of us for their outrageous salaries & benefits. (If you don't think that offshoring is also a problem, I recommend the following article: The Establishment Rethinks Globalization

Gary, you are absolutley right. The RMN should call itself the Rocky Mountain Mexican with all the weepy one sided leftist/liberal propoganda about poor "immigrants" or as rational people correctly identify them, ILLEGAL aliens. It is time for a third paper, to do the job the RMN won't do.

Most of our nationwide "newspapers" would be considered liberally corporate driven, as is The Des Moines Register which just published an editorial titled "Iowa Should Lead Way on Immigration - Press for Workable Solutions" and claimed that:

"Today's illegal immigrants may be largely uneducated - roofers, housekeepers and dishwashers - but many of their children could become scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs. Are we widening the wedge? The nation desperately needs realistic immigration reform."

Here are some points to consider:

The US government issues a maximum of only 65,000 H1B visas annually for professional immigrant applicants - doctors, physicists, computer scientists, civil engineers, etc. - yet they want us to accept 12 million low income wage earners into the crutches of American society. Those 65,000 visas were exhausted the day they were available, and millions of trained professionals will have to wait still longer to come to America.

According to the US House of Representative's Ways and Means Committee, because 60% of the present illegal immigrants in America from the south do not have a high school education, they had a net cost to the US taxpayer of $10 billion in 2002. They estimate if those same illegal immigrants were legalized, that net deficit would have cost the taxpayer $29 billion at the federal level because of increased exposure to low income federal programs, not to mention the additional taxpayer costs incurred at the local and state levels. They also estimate it will take 18 years before those same illegals, if legalized, would cease being a fiscal drain on the country.

It would seem logical not to grant amnesty to the flood of poorly educated illegal immigrants already in the country; but instead, open more doors to some of the millions of professional doctors, engineers, and scientists who want to come to America.

Professionals attempting to migrate to America should not be denied access to American citizenship in order to accommodate illegal immigration from the south. It would be un-American to grant special priviledges to one group over another, particularly when the group receiving special priviledges are the ones breaking the law.

And, immigration reform and mass deportation is not necessary, as some would have you believe. If law enforcement simply enforces current immigration mandates and severely punishes employers who hire illegals, the jobs they currently fill will cease to exist. With no opportunity to work and make a living, with no government subsidies offered to illegal aliens, they will systematically migrate back home.

Thank you C.C.

The RMN is just another front for helping our country go down the sewer. It's writers and editors do not cover both sides of a story fairly or objectively...only the side they want to promote is constantly shoved into print..

It is time for a third newspaper in Denver. The other "two" are really just one of a kind!
