Register endorses Clinton, McCain
"With dissension at home and distrust abroad, as American troops continue to fight wars on two fronts, the times call for two essential qualities in the next American president...""The times call for competence. Americans want their government to work again.
The times call for readiness to lead. Americans want their country to do great things again. They'll regain trust in their government when they see a president make that happen."
And with those words, Iowa's statewide newspaper, the Des Moines Register, has endorsed
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a Democrat, and
Sen. John McCain, a Republican,
in the fight for the Iowa caucuses, Jan. 3, 2008.
The selection of McCain is a bigger surprise, considering that he skipped the state GOP's Straw Poll in August and has been an infrequent visitor to the state since mid-summer. The latest Register poll found McCain stuck in single digits in Iowa, tied for fifth place with Rep. Ron Paul.
Clinton recently lost her Iowa lead to Sen. Barack Obama, and she's fighting to hold off his recent surge in New Hampshire and South Carolina, too.
"Readiness to lead sets her apart from a constellation of possible stars in her party, particularly Barack Obama, who also demonstrates the potential to be a fine president," the Register's endorsement said. "When Obama speaks before a crowd, he can be more inspirational than Clinton. Yet, with his relative inexperience, it's hard to feel as confident he could accomplish the daunting agenda that lies ahead."
There is some consolation for Obama and other Democrats who had been seeking the coveted endorsement. In 2004, the Register's Democratic pick, former Sen. John Edwards, finished second in the caucuses.

Why I Decided to Caucus for Obama
There are many exceptional candidates running for president. I attended numerous candidate events to listen and learn before selecting a candidate to support at the January 3 Iowa caucus. Many Iowans are undecided and are learning more about the candidates’ ideas, positions, and proposed policies. It is understandably difficult to make a candidate decision among so many well qualified, talented, and skilled politicians.
After weighing many factors and digesting much information, I decided to caucus for Obama because of his primary concern about global warming and the environment. I am deeply concerned about polluted environment we are passing on to our children and grandchildren. I have three young grand daughters. My desire is to pass on to them a better environmental legacy. Global warming is a very serious problem. My faith calls for us to be better stewards of God’s creation by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and finding solutions to reducing global warming.
During the campaign, Obama has constantly demonstrated his serious concern about global warming. The US League of Conversation Voters List of environmental voting records of all candidates show Obama with 96% which is the highest voting record of all candidates. At the end of your December 13 The Des Moines Register and IPTV debate, the moderator asked each candidate what is your greatest unknown or uncertainty. Obama said global warming is a much greater unknown threat and more serious than earlier anticipated. On October 14, Obama conducted an Interfaith Forum on Climate Change where he discussed energy and environmental concerns. On August 18, Obama gave an Energy Security presentation at Waverly, Iowa. On April 22, at an Iowa City Earth Day speech, Obama discussed raising the CAFÉ standards to improve our environment. Obama is more committed to making climate change solutions than any other candidate and this is why I support Obama.

First of all "The Register" refers to only The Orange County Register. And it would be amazing if they endorsed Clinton.
Second of all, this would be much more of a story if the Orange County Register did endorse Clinton.
Third of all ... Ron-ald Paul-inski!!!!!
Wooooo!

JeffersonianOrigonian: It is the Des Moines Register that has endorsed Clinton and McCain, and NOT the Rocky Mountain News.
To Ron Paul supporters: I know your heart is in the right place, and that you care about the direction America is moving towards. But when you use Truther rhetoric, regurgitating it's oversimplified and distorted message on blogs, you are actually hurting Ron Paul's campaign. So please do your homework and broaden your reading across American History, Political Science, and Foreign Affairs. I'm sure Ron Paul would want you to: remember Giuliani's Reading List. You might start there.
Now I'm going to draw the line in the sand: The Rocky Mountain News is one of the few truly independent newspapers left in the country where the journalists are in touch with the people, and they are listening to us. The feet of these journalists, so to speak, are in the working/thinking trenches along side of us.
Remember John Accola? In 2006 John spent his last hours on this earth as a Rockies reporter in a dilapidated trailer home, listening to a woman whom nobody else could find. He was always searching for the human side of every story, seeking the truth of the matter, and NOT the SPIN.
So hands off the Rocky Mountain News ... please, for you are barking up the wrong tree...

NONE of these pretender candidates can take America back from the oligarchs because they are the oligarchs. The hegemony of this class will destroy the Republic. The job is almost done.
OUR only hope is Dr No, and he won't get the traction necessary to win because the oligarchs will rig the election. Sad but true. It's not too different from Putin's Russia.
THE REVOLUTION will not be live-blogged. Mark my words, the future of Amerika is at peril unless we take to the streets. Get strong, my warriors, the battle is at hand. There will be loss and there will be sadness. Some mistakes will be made as we forge a new society. Read Tom Paine and William Cobbett. They knew the score. We will take back the dignity of our human divinity. Some notion of "God" will not do the work for us.
FORWARD MARCH!
This is not the time to make stupid jokes about NBA players and the candidates that they might support. Who cares? Alex English (if that's his real name, which I seriously doubt) should be banned from commenting on this site. His comments from yesterday were the stupidest things I've read for years. What an idiot! Who cares if Kucinich is shorter than his towering wife? Hell, we're all shorter than her.
I have my own "Publius Smith" endorsements:
GOP: Ted Stevens
DEM: Jim Trafficant
Would they be better? Of course not! That's not the point. The point is to point out the udder inanity of the whole mess. And no, I didn't mispell udder. I meant to write udder, as in the suckling teat of a cow or a sow.
I saw M.E. Sprengelmeyer this morning on CNN. He seems like an affable chap. But he's part of the problem, too. I can't imagine a job more despicable than being a "reporter". Why doesn't he blow the lid off the whole stanking system of graft and sexual promiscuity? It's like he has his hands down the pants of every candidate. It's repulsive.
I've written enough. Who will join me in the "Publius Smith Revolution"? Let's go, people!

They are part of the machine as well. The press is doing their usual job of feeding the people WHO they will vote for, rather than letting them decide for themselves.
Why in GOD'S NAME this paper would support a NAFTA SUPER HIGHWAY just to transport goods for Wal-Mart and drugs of course, is beyond my comprehension. Do you suppose this is ignorance or Greed? I'll say GREED.
The Globalists on stage call it a "conspiracy theory" when it is THEY who seek to achieve this goal. Same thing happened Europe. Google Amero.
And the NAFTA SUPER HIGHWAY is on the Canadian GOVERNMENTS website-

I guess it isn't a "conspiracy" after all?
The ONLY people in this election who do not support a Globalist/Elitist OLIGARCHY are *Kucinich *Gravel and RON PAUL

This endoresement is a joke...right? No seriously, this IS a joke...please tell me it is! The Register picked the WORST Democrat (Socialist) and one of the WORST Republians (Neocon/Globalist). What is wrong with you? Are people at the Register really this stupid? Or perhaps its personal gain/agenda. Let's try something new this time....no Socialist, no Globalist, no Skull-N-Bones members, No Bohemian Grove members, No attendees of the Bilderberg group members....how about Honesty? Peace? Freedom? Could we try that one some time?
