Another very kewl cartoon. I was supposed to go to Chicago but missed my ride. Probably best.
I *think* what they are trying to "Re-create" is that feeling our (my & Ed S.'s) generation had of all being part of a noble struggle against the worst tendencies of America-gone-wild.
Unfortunately their nostalgia for their parents' times is marred by the reality of today, that the police state Richard M. Nixon dreamed of creating was a child's model of what America is actually becoming.

Jack Woehr says: "...the police state Richard M. Nixon dreamed of creating..."
Once our generation took over from those old boys after Watergate, the Police State we see is the Police State WE ourselves created.
The PC police and the restrictions on freedoms we have instituted are borne on winds that blow from the left.
Nixon, for all his failings, recognized that.
The end is near.

I hope Ed does more of these during the convention. Cartoons are a powerful media and draw your attention while getting the point across.
During the 1968 election season, I met Hubert Humphrey, the Dems Presidential candidate (after Chicago). He was nice and pleasant and was quite an unsung legislative activist in the civil rights movement. Between the Chicago '68 riots and his predessor, Lyndon Johnson, Humphrey's chances were dashed and thus the American people were given the loonicy of Richard Milhous Nixon and his "secret plan" to end the war in Vietnam.
The more things change, the more they remain the same. The Iraq war will end when "they" decide it will end.
