President-elect

I struggled to come up with an idea for the day after the election, going through dozens of sketches, but I settled on a simple image that reflects the size of Obama's victory.

Dear Ed - Great cartoon!! I'm thrilled about Obama and now - to loosely quote Michelle Obama - finally feel proud about my country again. [...and please, all you tiresome nay-sayers out there, give me a break and just let it be!]

I too am proud of this country.

I am not only proud we voted Barak the best man into office, I am proud of the boost it is giving us around the world.

For too long we have been the aggresors, the loners, and the murderers of innocent lives. Our allies like Spain, France, Denmark are thrilled to see us take a different path, and they will reach out to Obama.

Finally, I'm proud of the way we have shown future generations that all of us matter, all of us have worth. Children of every race can hold hands in the US and know that they are important human beings too.

YEAH FOR US!!! YEAH FOR BARACK OBAMA!!

    Hello Ed,

This is a fantastic depiction of the feeling that this country has with Obama now as our president-elect. Good job! What I'd like to know is how I can put this map of yours on a T-Shirt, bumper sticker etc. I'd like to replace all my anti-Bush stuff with this nice, clean graphic that says it all - without violating any copyrights. Can this be done (i.e., an association with CafePress)?

    Thank you!

I don't think there's a better way to state it. It sure is nice to be free from the tensions of the campaign. Quite happy about the whole thing.

See you all in four years. Just remember:

When you lose your job, unemployment reaches double digits and you want someone to blame, remember who you voted for; if it was Obama, look in the mirror and blame that person.

When you go to the store to buy a loaf of bread and the cheapest stuff on the shelf runs $4.00/ loaf, remember who you voted for; if it was Obama, look in the mirror and blame that person.

When you lose your house because the housing market continues to crumble, remember that Obama's first choice was to make one of the conspirators of Fannie Mae his Chief of Staff and remember who you voted for; if it was Obama, look in the mirror and blame that person.

When you see America on the retreat from our enemies and our military insufficiently supplied with equipment and information to do its job appropriately, remember who you voted for; if it was Obama, look in the mirror and blame that person.

America has a long and hard 4 years ahead of her; but we'll be here to pick up the pieces when you've had your fill of this guy.

yes, ted, but not for the reasons you believe.

we will be digging out of the hole 8 years of conservative policy decisions have left us in.

when did the republican party become the party of CYA instead of the party of personal responsibility?

Bush's liberal spending habits are also to blame yes.

Just don't call him a fiscal conservative, because he's not.

But the cure for financial mismanagement and big government is not more big government and more spending, which is what Obama is all about.

I go way back. I have your book Stein's Way which you autographed. I used to listen to Gene Amole on KVOD and later your wife Lisa. I also ran around with the KVOD "gang" helping the Denver Orchestra raise money. Those were fun times.

How is your family? How many awards do you have now?

Keep on going with the genious. Can't imagine the newspaper without you.

The election is over. Obama got a mandate.

But he can't succeed without help.

    Help from liberals AND conservatives.

If you want the country to falter, break Obama down as much as you want; deride him, punish him for his values, and deny him help.

If you want the country to succeed, support him, give him you advice, offer constructive criticism.

'Cause like it or not, he's the president elect.

That sun will rise or set depending on future action; it has yet to be decided.

    So step up.

Devon, curious, did you get behind President Bush or oppose him?

If you opposed Bush, you have no right to ask such a foolish request as for us freedom lovers to get behind the Marxist in Chief-elect.

I stand for liberty, freedom and justice; if Obama lives up to his promises, that means I MUST stand against him.

Well, for starters "spreading the wealth" means stealing from those who create wealth - that is injust.

But, I may be guilty of including Pres. Obama iwth Chucky Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid's desire to limit free speech in the un"fairness doctrine". The fairness doctrine is anti-freedom.

We'll see if Obama attempts to follow through on his many other anti-liberty stands goes anywhere.

    Ed,

You have done well. I am a strict conservative and voted against Obama. I celebrate the beauty of this moment because Obama has the victory. Your cartoon tells the tale. Obam has the opportunity to be his party's Reagan. A man to be followed and respected for decades. It's very possible that it's morning in American, again.

I look forward to the next four years. Either Obama will be a great president or Carter 2.0. It's up to him. I'll give him time to show which he chooses.

so what you're saying, ted, is, as usual, you can't support these tinfoil hat conspiracy theories of yours with facts.

the lesson kids, is it is completely ignorant to believe that obama is going to take away our "liberty, freedom and justice".

momma...as established many times before the election...obama is most closely aligned from a policy persective with clinton.

another clinton administration would be very welcome.

certainly much more than an additional trickle down failure as we saw under reagan and bush II
